About Me
My name is Jack Garside, and I am a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from Raleigh, NC. Growing up in North Carolina and spending summers at Atlantic Beach for as long as I can remember, I have become an avid sport fisherman and diver. I have been fortunate to dive in many locations including Mexico, the Dominican Republic, the Galápagos Islands, Florida, and even right here in North Carolina. I have a strong passion for exploring marine environments, and over the last couple of years, I have become close with the reality that many marine ecosystems around the world are in danger and need support. One of my biggest hobbies is photography. I always have my GoPro with me whether I'm fishing, diving, or snorkeling, but marine photography is not the only type of photography I enjoy. I love taking pictures of nature anywhere. Many of my personal photographs can be found throughout this website. I have found that photography is a very powerful tool for spreading the beauty of the natural world. Because of this, I am using photography to benefit marine environments in North Carolina by founding the Photos for the Ocean photography contest for marine conservation.
